As we approach the end of the republican elections, which will
culminate the beginning of June, our front-runner seems to be clearer now than
in past primaries. Mitt Romney is leading the way with 577 total delegates. Coming
up this Tuesday, the top three still running republican candidates, Mitt
Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul, will be heading to the East coast. New
York, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania primaries are up
and with the new opening of Rick Santorum’s voters, each still-running
candidate has tactics in mind to win over those voters. This turn of events
could go any which way and we will have to stay tuned and hear how the citizens
will sway. There are new speculations that Newt Gingrich may be soon to also
drop out of the race, but for now those are just rumors.
Rick Santorum had announced on April 10th that he will be
suspending his electoral race. He made note that his daughter Bella had been
hospitalized for the second time during his republican race due to a genetic
disorder and he would not be able to continue in this election. He dropped out
of the race but will still continue with his beliefs and in his fight. He did
not lead his delegates toward anyone, but in my opinion, Mitt Romney will
definitely be benefitting from this situation. Rick Santorum seemed to do
really well in the south but not so well in the Midwest, so who knows how the
east coast would have reacted to his presidential election and beliefs this
upcoming week. We will never know I guess. He has chosen to suspend his race to
enable any chance of reimbursement that could still come his way to repay his
debts.
Santorum remarks on the race thus far based on his experiences this year: “This
race was as improbable as any race you’ll ever see for president.” We will just have to wait and see how this will affect this
week’s delegates. Stay tuned.
This may seem like a stupid question, but is Obama running again? I don't follow politics at all. Also, it seems like a lot of people are all trying to get that Republican slot. I feel like it's usually just two or so, but it was four only a few weeks ago.
